We are seeking a passionate and innovative Head Chef to lead our culinary team and create nutritious, delicious, and visually appealing vegetarian meals that support our guests’ health and wellness journeys.

 

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and health-conscious Head Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a culinary expert with a deep understanding of nutrition, a creative approach to healthy cooking, and the ability to inspire and lead a team. As Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, and designing menus that align with our wellness philosophy.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute innovative, seasonal, and health-focused menus that cater to various dietary needs and preferences, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and other special diets.
  • Ensure the use of fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients to create nutritious and delicious meals.
  • Oversee kitchen operations, including inventory management, staff scheduling, and training.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene in the kitchen.
  • Collaborate with wellness and nutrition experts to ensure menu offerings support guests’ health and wellness goals.
  • Monitor and manage kitchen budgets, including food cost control and waste reduction.
  • Stay current with culinary and health trends, continuously seeking ways to improve and innovate our offerings.
  • Foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging teamwork and professional growth among kitchen staff.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef, preferably in a health and wellness or spa environment.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition and health-conscious cooking techniques.
  • Creative culinary skills with a focus on developing flavourful and nutritious meals.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Commitment to sustainability and use of organic, locally sourced ingredients.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred.

Retreat Host

Are you passionate about wellness, yoga, meditation and creating transformative experiences? Then this is your dream job.

We are seeking a dedicated Retreat Host to join our team at Billabong Retreat. As a Retreat Host, you’ll play a pivotal role in curating unforgettable experiences for our guests, guiding them on a journey of rejuvenation and self discovery. This is an amazing opportunity for a yoga teacher. Expect to receive a competitive hourly rate.

Availability: Must be able to work regular weekends and stay over up to three nights per week.

Guest Experience: Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for guests from arrival to departure.

Program Creation: Deliver an educational wellness programs in accordance with our retreat themes.

Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community among guests through meaningful interactions, workshop activities and shared experiences.

Problem Solving: Address guest concerns and resolve any issues promptly and professionally, maintaining a positive and supportive.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience running retreats
  • Qualified yoga teacher; yin and Hatha or vinyasa
  • Qualified meditation teacher or yoga Nidra facilitator
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for health
  • Knowledge of other wellness practices and holistic health modalities is a plus.

Casual Housekeeper

We are looking for a reliable, friendly and fit housekeeper to provide a high level of cleaning throughout the retreat.

Jobs include:

  • Making beds
  • Cleaning cabins & public areas
  • Assisting with packing and unpacking of linen

Availability:

The position is for 4-5 hours on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.

Due to the landscape of the property we require someone who is fit and able to carry equipment & linen around the estate as needed. Own transport required as there is very limited public transport in the area. No experience necessary, if you have a high attention to detail and can clean to a high standard in a set time frame then please apply.

Retreat Volunteers

We have an ongoing volunteer program where you can come and stay for free for a minimum of four-weeks in exchange for up to 6 hours work per day, 6 days per week helping out in the kitchen and with housekeeping. You are provided with a private room in our staff house. The staff house features a shared bathroom, kitchen and lounge area. All meals, drinks and snacks are provided as well as access to the yoga, meditation and mindfulness classes when not working.
