Inspired by our Retreat Host Claire Tait’s ‘Living with Ease’ workshops.
Life can often feel busy and overwhelming, making it easy to move from one task to the next without taking a moment for ourselves. While we can’t always control what’s happening around us, we can create small moments throughout the day that help us feel more grounded and present.
In her wellness workshop, From Stuck to Flow, Claire Tait shares the power of daily rituals – simple, intentional practices that help us reconnect with ourselves and create a sense of calm, even during life’s busiest seasons. Rather than becoming another item on your to-do list, a ritual is an opportunity to slow down and bring awareness to the present moment.
Unlike habits, which we often do automatically, rituals are performed with intention. They don’t need to be elaborate or time-consuming. A warm cup of tea, a few mindful breaths, stepping outside into nature or writing down a few things you’re grateful for can all become meaningful rituals that support your wellbeing.
A Simple Practice
Before reaching for your phone in the morning, spend just five minutes creating a ritual that feels nourishing.
Try one or two of these:
- Enjoy a cup of herbal tea in silence.
- Take five slow, deep breaths.
- Step outside and notice the fresh air and sounds around you.
- Write down three things you’re grateful for.
- Set one gentle intention for your day.
The goal isn’t perfection – it’s consistency. Even a few intentional minutes each day can help you feel calmer, more centred and better equipped to navigate whatever the day brings.
At Billabong Retreat, we see the power of ritual every day through mindful movement, nourishing meals, time in nature and moments of quiet reflection. These simple practices remind us that wellbeing isn’t built through grand gestures, but through the small moments we choose to return to, day after day.
