For guests who haven’t met you yet, can you tell us a little about yourself and your role at Billabong Retreat?
I’ve spent over 40 years in the health, beauty, wellness and relaxation industry, and it’s truly been a passion of mine. Throughout my journey, I’ve loved learning and growing, studying a wide range of treatments and techniques to better support the people I care for.
For the past 10 years, I’ve worked at Billabong Retreat alongside a wonderful team of talented therapists, where I’ve had the privilege of treating many lovely guests. My focus has always been on creating a calm, nurturing experience where people can truly relax and restore.
What first inspired you to pursue massage and holistic therapies?
I was inspired by a deep desire to help people feel better, both physically and emotionally. I’ve always been drawn to caring for others and found it incredibly rewarding.
Over time, that passion grew into a lifelong journey of learning and practising different therapies that nurture the whole person – body, mind and spirit.
What do you love most about working with guests at Billabong Retreat?
Every guest has a story and a lesson to share. Seeing the transformation after a treatment is the most rewarding part of my work.
Guests often arrive feeling tense, tired or overwhelmed, and by the end of their treatment you can see a real shift, both physically and emotionally. Their smile says it all.
Is there a particular treatment or modality that you especially enjoy offering?
I genuinely enjoy every treatment I give. One of the greatest rewards is hearing guests tell me how much they loved their experience and how rested and relaxed they feel afterwards. Knowing I’ve helped someone unwind and feel better makes it all worthwhile.
What do you think people often underestimate about the benefits of massage and therapeutic touch?
One of the most beautiful benefits of massage is the way it helps soothe the nervous system. It gives the body permission to relax, release tension and reset.
Guests often leave feeling not only physically better, but emotionally calmer too.
Is there a memorable guest experience that has stayed with you?
I’ve had so many wonderful experiences over the years. Many of my clients have been with me for most of my working life, and over time they’ve become like a second family.
I truly love hearing their stories and feel incredibly grateful to have been part of their journeys.
Wellness means different things to different people. What does wellbeing look like for you personally?
For me, wellbeing means feeling positive, balanced and content, while bringing warmth and care into everything I do.
What are some of your favourite ways to recharge and practise self-care?
I love spending time with my family and keeping active through hiking, kayaking and even go-karting!
I also enjoy quieter moments, whether that’s reading, doing crafts, spending time in my garden or learning about new plants.
Do you have a favourite quote or piece of wisdom that you live by?
Always keep learning, stay active, and believe in yourself because growth, strength and confidence can carry you so far.
And always remember that we’re all different, and that’s something truly beautiful.
