Everything is energy: Meridian Health with Billabong host Claire Tait.

We are always exploring ways to support deeper connection, healing, and balance. This month, our host Claire Tait invites us into the world of Meridian Health—a powerful yet simple way to understand how energy flows through our body and influences how we feel, think, and live.

Claire, a kinesiologist, yoga teacher, Reiki master, retreat facilitator, and EFT practitioner, reminds us of a fundamental truth: everything is energy. Our bodies are not just physical—they are energetic systems, constantly moving, responding, and communicating.

What Are Meridians?
Meridians are lines of energy within the body—pathways through which our life force, or chi, flows. There are 14 main meridians and around 360 acupoints, each connected to organs, muscles, emotions, and chakras. Think of your meridians as your body’s internal energy distribution network. When energy flows freely, we feel aligned, calm, and vital. When there is blockage or imbalance, it can show up in many ways—physically, emotionally, and mentally. Low self-esteem, lack of motivation, relationship challenges, difficulty letting go, overwhelm, or a sense of disconnection can all be signs that energy is not flowing as it should.

When Energy Flows, Life Flows.
Perfect balance all the time is unlikely—but when your meridians are supported, life feels different. There is more ease and lightness. You feel physically healthier, more connected to your body and intuition, and better equipped to navigate life’s ups and downs. Positivity increases, and so does your capacity to cope.

Understanding the Meridians

Each meridian carries its own energetic signature and emotional landscape:

  • Stomach Meridian – Linked to contentment and nourishment. When imbalanced, you may feel anxious, insecure, or like nothing is ever enough. Activating this meridian (including point 36) can boost vitality, resilience, and immunity. It also reminds us that abundance is not about what we have, but how we feel—an inner state of fullness and possibility.
  • Spleen Meridian – Associated with confidence and mental clarity. Imbalance can lead to overthinking, worry, and mental overload.
  • Heart Meridian – The “spirit gate.” It governs emotional wellbeing. When out of balance, feelings of sadness, loneliness, or lack of purpose may arise. When supported, it nurtures calm, connection, and emotional harmony.
  • Small Intestine Meridian – Helps us discern and learn from life. Imbalance may show up as repeated patterns, poor judgment, or lack of clarity.
  • Bladder Meridian – Connected to fear and direction in life. Imbalance can bring indecision and a need for external approval.
  • Kidney Meridian – The foundation of energy and willpower. When depleted, you may feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck in procrastination. When strong, it restores resilience, grounding, and inner strength.
  • Gallbladder Meridian – Governs decision making and direction. Imbalance may lead to resentment, poor judgment, or reliance on others’ approval.
  • Liver Meridian – Supports transformation and forward movement. When blocked, you may feel stuck, unable to plan or embrace change.
  • Lung Meridian – Holds grief and sadness. Strengthening it helps release emotional heaviness and renew energy after depletion.
  • Large Intestine Meridian – The energy of letting go. When balanced, it supports release—physically, emotionally, and mentally—creating space for ease and flow.
  • Central Vessel (Main Yin Meridian) – A deeply nurturing channel associated with the feminine. It calms the nervous system, opens the heart, and fosters emotional safety, especially when dealing with overwhelm or perfectionism.

Caring for Your Meridian Health
The beauty of working with meridians is that small, consistent practices can create meaningful shifts. Supporting your energy flow doesn’t have to be complicated—it simply requires awareness and intention. You can help keep your meridians healthy through:
Yoga and mindful movement
Kinesiology sessions
Acupressure and acupuncture
Reflexology
EFT (tapping)
Meridian activation practices
Each of these modalities helps clear blockages, restore balance, and encourage the free flow of energy throughout the body.

Living with Ease
Meridian Health invites us back to ourselves. It reminds us that wellbeing is not something we chase—it’s something we cultivate from within. As Claire beautifully shares, abundance is not defined by what we possess, but by our state of mind and spirit. When our energy flows freely, we reconnect with the truth that we are already whole, already enough, already abundant. Join us at Billabong Retreat and experience what it means to truly live with ease.
