For guests who may be new to you, can you share a little about your journey and what drew you to Qigong?
For much of my life, I searched for meaning in the busyness of the world — moving too fast, giving too much, and silencing the quiet whispers of my body. I abandoned my own needs to meet expectations, only to feel more disconnected from who I truly was. In my 20s, everything began to shift when I discovered Yoga and reconnected with nature. For the first time, I experienced calm and centeredness, and my healing began as I slowed down enough to listen inward. By my 30s, I left my corporate career as a Designer and immersed myself in Yoga Therapy, Ayurveda, Myofascial Release, and Acupressure — practices that helped me return home to myself and align with my inner voice. The turning point came in Bali, when I attended my first Qigong class. Instantly, my whole being vibrated with joy, lightness, and a sense of aliveness I had never felt before. That single experience opened the door to a deeper journey into the energetic world of effortless ease and flow. Now, in my 40s, my path has expanded into Qigong, Energy Healing, Medical Intuition, and Sound Healing — practices rooted in nature that help me re-attune to my inner rhythm. Through them, I’ve learned to embody my energy, listen to intuition, and move through life with greater ease, empowerment, and flow.
2. What does it mean to you to guide morning movement and meditation at Billabong Wellness Retreat?
Guiding morning movement and meditation at Billabong Wellness Retreat is my go-to practice and my absolute favorite way to begin the day. It’s such a powerful ritual — opening the energy in the body, clearing the mind, and anchoring us in the intention of effortless ease. What I love most is that it’s not just something we experience at the retreat; it’s a practice guests can carry home with them, a simple yet profound way to continue cultivating clarity, flow, and inner balance in everyday life. Understanding Qigong
3. For those who have never experienced it before, how would you describe Qigong in simple terms?
Qigong comes from two words: Qi, meaning life force energy, and Gong, meaning cultivation. Together, Qigong is the art of cultivating life force energy. Through breath, gentle movement, and focused intention, we guide and direct energy to flow in harmony with nature — embodying its effortless ease and natural rhythm.
4. How is Qigong different from other movement or meditation practices people might already be familiar with, such as yoga or mindfulness meditation?
Qigong differs from yoga and mindfulness meditation in that it focuses primarily on cultivating and directing life force energy (Qi) through flowing movements, breath, and intention, rather than emphasizing physical postures (as in yoga) or purely mental awareness (as in mindfulness). It is an energy-based practice designed to harmonize the body with the rhythms of nature.
5. What is happening in the body and mind when we practice Qigong?
When you practice Qigong, your body shifts into a state of gentle activation and deep relaxation at the same time: muscles loosen, breath slows, circulation improves, and the nervous system calms. At the same time, the practice unifies mind, breath, and movement in the present moment, creating harmony within. With focused intention and visualization, you can guide Qi to specific areas of the body where it is most needed, allowing energy to flow smoothly and restoring balance, vitality, and effortless ease. Benefits for Our Retreat Guests

Guests often leave a Qigong session feeling lighter in their bodies, calmer in their minds, and more present. These benefits extend beyond the retreat, offering a practice they can carry home to continue nurturing vitality and inner calm.
7. Are there longer-term benefits that can develop with regular practice?
With regular Qigong practice, guests often find not only greater balance and vitality in daily life, but also long-term benefits that add more life to their years and more years to their life. By calming the nervous system, boosting the immune system, preventing illness, and promoting longevity, Qigong nurtures resilience and effortless ease that extends well beyond the retreat. 8. 11. For someone who feels short on time or new to movement practices, how accessible is Qigong?
Qigong is one of the most accessible practices, especially for those short on time or new to movement. It doesn’t require anything but yourself and a bit of space — no equipment, no need to change clothes. The magic of Qigong is that even a few minutes of practice can create a noticeable shift in energy, calm the nervous system, and bring clarity. Of course, the longer you practice, the more powerful and transformative the benefits become.
