A Peaceful Path To Christmas

How to care for yourself this Christmas- a nurturing guide for a balanced December. By resident Naturopath Anne Currenti

As we move into the busy Christmas season, it’s easy to get swept up in the rush of gifting, gatherings and expectations. But this time of year can also be an invitation to slow down, breathe, and come back to yourself.

Stress often builds when we try to hold too much, so the first step is simply noticing what your mind and body are asking for. A few moments of stillness each day — even five slow breaths or a quiet cup of tea — can reset your nervous system in powerful ways.

Your energy also depends on the basics: sleep, nourishment, movement and hydration. Prioritise good-quality sleep by creating gentle evening boundaries — dim lights, fewer screens, and a calm transition into bed. Choose meals that keep your blood sugar steady, especially protein-rich options to support mood, focus and resilience. Keep snacks simple and grounding, and stay hydrated (we often forget when the weather warms up).

These small choices make a big difference to how you feel through the festive build-up. Most importantly, remember that you don’t need to do everything or do it perfectly. Christmas is not a performance — it’s a moment to connect, rest and find joy in the simple things. Give yourself permission to say no when needed, ask for help, and pace yourself. Your wellbeing shapes the whole season.

If you’d like to support yourself by navigating stress, hormones or your health over the holidays, I’m here — and would love to help you feel balanced, calm and centred heading into the new year.
