Why self-care isnt selfish

Monthly advice from resident Naturopath Anne Currenti

It’s common for emotions to surface when we spend money or time on ourselves — especially for something nurturing, like a retreat. Guilt, doubt, or the thought “Should I really be doing this?” can quietly creep in. Many of us are conditioned to care for others first, yet deep down, we know that when we’re replenished, everyone around us benefits too.

These emotions often run deeper than they appear — shaped by old beliefs about worth, responsibility, or scarcity. Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) can be a beautiful way to identify and release the subconscious patterns that hold you back from fully receiving care, abundance, and rest. When those emotional charges lift, there’s often a sense of lightness — a gentle permission to nurture yourself without guilt.

You can’t pour from an empty cup — and taking time to fill yours is not selfish, it’s essential. If you notice guilt or resistance arise around investing in yourself, it may be a sign that something deeper wants to shift. Booking an NET session can help release these emotional blocks and reconnect you to a sense of ease and worthiness, allowing you to give and receive in balance.
