Here is an easy technique shared by our yoga/breathwork teacher and wellness coach Jourdi Bleu that will help you wake up tomorrow feeling amazing.
The number one thing you can do for your health and healing is quite simple: a good nights sleep. If you struggle with this you are not alone- 71% of the Australian population-14,8 million struggle with winding down, falling asleep and staying asleep after a busy day.
The 4-7-8 breath has a lot of science behind it, Navy seals actually use this breath before they go into their missions as it drops us out of our monkey minds and into our bodies. It also activates our diaphragmatic breathing which is how we switch on our parasympathetic nervous system. our bodies way of resting and digesting. This is the technique that you can do in bed or in a comfortable seated position.
- Inhale to the count of 4 through your nose.
- Then hold your breath for a count of 7
- and then exhale for the count of 8 through the nose.
Do this at least 4 times and you will find it much easier to fall asleep. Good night, sleep tight and sweet dreams:)
