Meet Kim our new head chef

Food is one of the most important reasons our guests come to the retreat and we are thrilled to welcome Kim as our new head chef, responsible for serving you, our valued guests, the most nutritious and delicious and abundant meals, so you know you can trust what you eat.

We asked Kim: What excites you about cooking for our guests

I love that we not only cook for our guests but also serve them. Two things bring me immense job satisfaction: first, when I serve a guest who claims not to like Brussels sprouts, and after I encourage them to try just one, they return five minutes later for more.

The second is when guests approach me asking for recipes or how I prepared a particular dish. That way I know we are on the right track.

My culinary journey began at home, cooking family dinners with my mum. Her lasagna was, and still is, my all-time favorite! In school, I excelled in Food Technology, particularly on the practical side. However, I didn’t pursue professional cooking until my mid-twenties.

I started in fine dining at establishments like Icebergs and Ottos. Since then, I’ve successfully owned and operated catering businesses, cafes, and restaurants. My food philosophy revolves around fresh, flavorful, and wholesome ingredients. It celebrates vibrant, seasonal produce and nourishing choices that both taste good and do good.
